Leaders from Austin Community College, Morehouse College and University of Texas System recently presented at SXSWedu, discussing Analytics and Student Success Innovation in Higher Education.
Moderated by Civitas Learning Chief Learning Officer and Co-Founder Mark Milliron, the group explored ways advanced analytics can and will be used to inform their student success initiatives and innovations.
Comments ranged from using analytics to empower interventions that make a growing private college experience feel smaller and more personal to students as Dr. John Wilson, President of Morehouse College suggested; to ways analytics could be used to systemically advance the success of first generation students as Dr. Marni Baker Stein proposed in discussing the UT System’s work in the Texas Valley. Marni Baker Stein is the Chief Innovation Officer for the UT System’s Institute for Transformational Learning.
Dr. Richard Rhodes, Austin Community College President and CEO, shared stories from his institution’s work in making advising more integrated, informed and engaging through advanced analytics and insights that students use to increase personal ownership of their degree pathway. All advocated for driving data to the front lines to students and faculty.
